2K Games has welcomed a seasoned producer from Respawn Entertainment to lead the studio crew at their internal studio, which is currently working on the anticipated third-person action-packed title known as this innovative game.
Brinkman assumes the leadership position at the development studio following the departure of previous head Michael Condrey, who was reportedly let go due to the game's lackluster initial reveal last fall.
On Wednesday, the company's top executive a key figure notified employees about this organizational change through an official communication, which emphasized that playtesting had shown the necessity for a more defined vision.
The president stated that the team is now refining Project Ethos with a refreshed focus, aiming to satisfy gamer demands.
This announcement follows a comparable action taken by 2K Games in the summer, when they hired Rod Fergusson from Blizzard to assist with the BioShock studio Cloud Chamber.
Below is the entire text from Ismailer's announcement:
Dear Team—
I understand you all just completed your meeting - I trust you’re as enthusiastic as I am with the recent updates. Last time I sent you all a message, I stated the following: “I believe in this group. You all are some of the most motivated and talented developers we have had the chance to work with - and we’re excited for that collaboration to endure.”
Given your hard work and flexibility, especially over the past twelve months, you repeatedly show that.
The gamer responses from last autumn’s the game testing phase was revealing. It affirmed the promise of a action-packed game but indicated we still had improvements to make. It highlighted the requirement for a more distinct vision.
The progress is encouraging to see how far you’ve come. You embraced the criticism to mind and revamped Project ETHOS with a revitalized direction - one that’s ready to deliver on its promise to our fans.
Our confidence in Project ETHOS increases every day. To advance the remarkable progress you’ve made, I’m excited to introduce Ben Brinkman as the new Studio Head of 31st Union. Following a period of talks, Ben comes aboard us on next week.
Ben’s leadership and experience in the PVP shooter field is extensive, having spent the recent years developing and overseeing some of the most well-known franchises in gaming, such as the acclaimed shooter, and lately, Apex Legends.
Please join me in greeting him in the coming days. We are all excited to continue observing the evolution of the game in the months to come.
The President
Brinkman currently holds the role of senior developer and head of production at Respawn Entertainment for Apex Legends. Brinkman previously was employed at major gaming companies in diverse production roles on the Call of Duty games, and, earlier in his career, had stints at other industry leaders.
The upcoming game was announced in last year alongside a public demo. At the time, 31st Union portrayed the title as a "no-cost, third-person perspective action-packed experience and an exciting advancement on the style."
"Create your ideal gameplay session—or face defeat—in this engaging over-the-shoulder adventure! Customize your character in live gameplay to suit your personal playstyle," the description states. "Challenge the opponents with unique powers, stakes, and tests that change every round. Do you safely extract with your hard-earned loot? Alternatively go big, gamble everything, and trust your group can achieve the highest spot? The option is yours."
Project Ethos has not yet received an official release date or platforms, but fans can expect further news as development advances.
