The second-hand marketplace Members Share Frustration About Size Modifications

Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.

This online marketplace has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments without notifying every member regarding the update.

Online Platforms Response

Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present a different size category than originally posted because of the remapping.

The company said the new system was more in line with other platforms.

They have suggested members to review their products and manually change the size where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.

Size Classification Changes

Earlier, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.

In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

Member Stories

Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.

Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.

Manual Updates

Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she said.

Platform Context

The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.

It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.

This isn't the first time when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
